GEORGE TOWN, May 14 — Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is inviting the Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof to attend a forum on PR winning the popular votes in Elections 2013.

The forum, to be held at the Komtar Geodesic Dome on Thursday, will feature a panel of speakers consisting of Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Dr Ong Kian Ming and Rafizi Ramli.

Organised by the Penang state information department, Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng will officiate it and Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari will moderate the forum.

“We will write formally to Abdul Aziz to invite him to the forum so that he could answer any questions that were raised during the forum,” Lim said.

He said this at a press conference after a luncheon with the state government department heads, new state executive councillors and the newly elected state assemblyman and MPs at Komtar today.

On the appointment of the state legislative assembly Speaker, Lim said the state Exco has not made any decision on the appointment yet.

Last week, state PKR chairman and former Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Mansor Othman had announced that former state Exco Law Choo Kiang who was dropped from the Exco line up this time around will be appointed as the Speaker.

Former Speaker Datuk Abdul Halim Hussein will not be re-appointed as Speaker, according to Mansor.

Lim did not want to confirm this but said the Exco will decide in the next meeting next week.

The state Exco held its first meeting today where it endorsed the decision to set up a Commission of Inquiry to investigate money politics allegations during the recently concluded general elections.

The state Exco also approved the setting up of women’s brigade and a Golden Mother programme.
